FAMILY FILED A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE NURSE ON DUTY Abdulkadir Akay, living in the Mayadalı neighborhood of Altınözü district, welcomed his daughter Hicran Akay 5 months ago. On the first day of Eid al-Adha, father Akay brought his baby Hicran to Hatay Training and Research Hospital with suspected pneumonia. According to the allegation, on the third day of the holiday, a nurse entered the room to check the serum of the baby still undergoing treatment in the ward, and while trying to cut the bandage around the serum area, she also cut the top part of the baby's right thumb. After his daughter's finger was cut, the Akay family was referred to Mustafa Kemal University Hospital. At the referred hospital, baby Hicran's finger was surgically reattached. Father Akay, stating that his daughter's treatment continues, filed a complaint against the nurse on duty at the hospital where the incident occurred.
BABY'S FINGER WAS CUT Father Abdulkadir Akay, stating that his 5-month-old daughter's finger was cut while she was being treated at the hospital, said, "My child was born 5 months ago, and I am now the father of a 5-month-old girl. We went to the hospital on the first day of the holiday. My child had suspected pneumonia, and we received treatment there. On the third day of the holiday, she was in the ward, and around 3:30 PM, a nurse came into the room to check the baby's serum. The serum had come out, and the nurse brought scissors to reattach it. There was something like a cloth on my baby's finger, and she wanted to cut it. While cutting it, the nurse also cut the child's finger. Then events unfolded.
We were referred from that hospital and came to Mustafa Kemal University Hospital. She is receiving treatment here, and the finger was reattached. The finger's healing process is ongoing. We haven't been given any information yet about whether there will be permanent damage. Hopefully, our wish is that there will be no damage, and now, thank God, she is gradually recovering. Her pneumonia condition is also improving. Hopefully, we will be discharged tomorrow. I wasn't in the room during the incident; my wife was. My wife called me, and I came to the hospital. We went to the prosecutor's office and the police to file a complaint. After getting the case number, I will also apply to the court through my lawyer. Inspections regarding hospitals should be increased. Let no one else suffer; this was an incident that shouldn't have happened. Our only wish from God is for our child to recover," he said.
