It was announced that Ecrin Deniz Karaca, who was seriously injured after falling from the 12th floor in Adana, is in good general health, and the awning acted like an airbag, saving her life.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mesut Uluöz, an Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist who operated on Ecrin Deniz Karaca after she fell from the 12th floor in Adana, provided information about her condition. Uluöz said, "Although Ecrin has serious fractures, she has held onto life. After she received treatment at a private hospital, officials from the Provincial Health Directorate called us and asked us to take care of the child. We spoke with the relatives and took over the child. Her general health condition is good now.
She has comminuted fractures in her femur and tibia. There is also a comminuted fracture in two separate bones in her elbow. As of last night, we performed two surgeries. Her injury is severe, but we believe we will succeed. With good rehabilitation, we will restore our child's health," he said.
"THE AWNING ACTED AS AN AIRBAG"
Stating that they do not encounter such cases very often, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uluöz said, "In this region, we frequently encounter cases of falls from heights. Clinically, we are very familiar with this issue, and we have a large team. This is the first time we have seen a fall from the 12th floor with such an outcome. It is not a common case in world literature either. It is a huge stroke of luck. If the awning had not had a sturdy structure, she could have been lost. The collapse of the awning tent acted as an airbag, absorbing the energy and helped her survive," he said.
