Egemen Bağış has stepped back, and Metin Feyzioğlu has been appointed in his place.

According to the decision published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Erdoğan, Metin Feyzioğlu has been appointed as the Ambassador of the Czech Republic, filling the vacancy left by Egemen Bağış.

Decisions regarding ambassador appointments made with the signature of President Erdoğan were published in the Official Gazette. The most notable detail in the appointment decision was the withdrawal of Egemen Bağış, who was the Ambassador of Turkey to the Czech Republic, and the appointment of Metin Feyzioğlu in his place.

According to the decision, the ambassador appointments are as follows:

  • Director General of Bilateral Relations Hayriye Kumaşcıoğlu; to the Embassy of Slovenia
  • Director General of Information Technologies Ayşe Hilal Sayan Koytak; to the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain
  • Deputy Director General for North Africa Hüseyin Barbaros Dicle; to the Embassy of Zambia
  • Director General of Bilateral Relations Şebnem İncesu; to the Embassy of Switzerland
  • Metin Feyzioğlu; appointed as the Ambassador of the Czech Republic.

WHO IS METİN FEYZİOĞLU?

Metin Feyzioğlu was born on July 7, 1969, in Istanbul. He is a professor of Turkish criminal law, a diplomat, and a lawyer who has previously served as the president of the Turkish Bar Association. Feyzioğlu started his education at TED Ankara College and graduated from there in 1986, after which he entered Ankara University Faculty of Law and received his diploma in 1990. He registered with the Ankara Bar Association in the same year.

Feyzioğlu completed his master's degree in Public Law in 1992 and received his doctorate in 1995. In 1996, he was appointed as an assistant professor in his university in the field of Criminal Law. He also obtained a certificate in legal English from Columbia University. He became an associate professor in 2002 and a full professor in 2005. In 2007, he was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Law at Ankara University and served in this position for one year.

Active in the Ankara Bar Association since 1991, Feyzioğlu was elected president by receiving 58% of the votes in the 61st Ordinary General Assembly held on October 10, 2010. He was then re-elected as president with 60% of the votes in the 62nd Ordinary General Assembly. On May 26, 2013, he began his term as the 8th president of the Turkish Bar Association and resigned from his party council membership during this process. He is married and has two daughters.
