The DEM Party's Batman Mayor Gülistan Sönük, who was suspended from her duties due to terrorist connections, came to the agenda with her scandalous remarks about the concept of family during a television program.

Targeting the institution of family with her statements, Gülistan Sönük expressed her shock when they first took over the municipality in Batman and saw brochures praising the family, stating, "When we first took over the municipality, there weren't even areas where women could go to get advice in the Women's Policies Directorate. The Women's Policies Directorate was designed that way, and they had printed brochures praising marriage. When we first went to the municipality, there were such huge words in the Women's Policies Directorate building that praised the family, like 'Family is the most sacred value,' constantly praising the family, seeing women as secondary, and placing the family at the center of life. We were shocked when we saw these. After all, this is the Women's Policies Directorate," she said.

Sharing the broadcast containing the scandalous expressions regarding the concepts of women and family on his social media account, Ekmen used the following statements:

"When Ms. Gülistan and her friends saw texts that 'praise marriage... praise family... place family at the center... sanctify family...', they thought these were approaches that 'see women as secondary' and were shocked. We were also in shock watching her. I honestly couldn't understand which political understanding corresponds to such a disconnected approach that positions 'women' directly against the family."

In the statement made by the municipality;

We would like you to know that your toxic ideas, which disregard women, the family, and the sanctity of the institution of marriage, have not found a counterpart in society. While you continue to be shocked, we will continue to work decisively for the well-being and prosperity of our families. While you keep talking, our women will continue to exist more strongly in production, employment, and society," the statement said.
