A new addition to Turkey's bleeding wound of femicides has come from Muğla. A man named Ali Bacak stabbed and killed his wife during an argument on International Women's Day, March 8. The man was taken into custody, and an investigation has been launched regarding the incident.
On March 8th, International Women's Day, a femicide was committed in Muğla. The incident that sparked the outcry of "Enough is enough!" took place in the Çamlıbel neighborhood of the Kavaklıdere district.
KILLED HIS WIFE WITH A KNIFE
In the late hours of the night, a dispute arose between Sermin Bacak (42) and her husband Ali Bacak (51) for an undetermined reason. As the argument escalated, Ali Bacak stabbed Sermin Bacak.
Upon notification, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. Sermin Bacak, who was taken to Kavaklıdere State Hospital by ambulance, unfortunately lost her life despite all interventions.
HE WAS DETAINED
After the incident, the suspect Ali Bacak was detained. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident.
23 WOMEN WERE KILLED IN JUST ONE MONTH
Data from the We Will Stop Femicide Platform revealed the horrifying scale of femicides. According to the data, 23 women were killed in February alone, and 29 women were found dead under suspicious circumstances. Of the 23 women killed, 6 were murdered because they wanted to make decisions about their lives, 2 for economic reasons, and 1 for other reasons. The reasons for the deaths of 14 women could not be determined. Women were mostly murdered by the men they were married to.
