Leader of the New Welfare Party, Fatih Erbakan, made statements regarding the appointment of trustees to the municipalities of Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti.
In his written statement, Erbakan included the following remarks: "The trustee appointments made in the early hours of the morning are merely a repetition of a scenario that has been staged for years. Regardless of the mistakes of those who nominated these individuals and those who appointed the trustees; it is the people who are punished, it is the disregarded will of the people. Both sides should refrain from repeatedly opening the curtain on this meaningless play. If the problem lies in the laws, let’s make legal amendments with urgent regulations in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
"THEY ARE THROWING WOOD INTO THE FIRE THAT ERODES TRUST IN CIVIL POLITICS"
For years, individuals who are being tried for membership in terrorist organizations are being nominated. The Supreme Election Council (YSK) legitimizes these candidacies by not objecting. As soon as the elections are concluded; cases that have been ongoing for years are quickly resolved. As a result, elected mayors are dismissed, and governors and district governors are appointed in their place. Both sides of this film are competing to throw wood into the fire that erodes trust in civil politics.
"THE WAY OUT FOR THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY IS JUSTICE"
In truth, the solution is not to nominate problematic individuals, and if they are nominated, to prevent their candidacies during the YSK process. Furthermore, if a crime that would necessitate dismissal has been established after the election, it is to have the elected municipal councils elect a new mayor instead of appointing a trustee. The way out for the Republic of Turkey is justice, law, and respect for the will of the people. The most effective way to fight against organizations is to act like a rooted state with a history of over a thousand years."
