President Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked party members for their opinion on whether the normalization steps with the CHP should continue or not. While some argued that this dialogue was damaging to the party, the decision to continue the dialogue with the CHP was reached during the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting.

In the Local Elections on March 31, the CHP emerged victorious as Turkey's 1st party. Following the elections where the AK Party fell to the 2nd party position for the first time in its history, historic moments occurred in politics under the scope of "Normalization". The leaders of the CHP and the AK Party visited each other and held meetings. Whether the dialogue with the CHP will continue or not was asked by Erdoğan to AK Party officials.

"SHOULD WE HALT THE MEETINGS OR CONTINUE?"

In the recent AK Party Central Decision Board meeting, President Erdoğan asked his officials about the dialogue with the CHP, saying "What do you say? Should we halt these meetings or continue?" The majority expressed that it would be beneficial for the dialogue with the opposition to continue.

"PERCEPTION OF ADJUSTING THE GOVERNMENT"

According to Türkiye Newspaper, some Central Decision Board members stated that Özgür Özel and other CHP officials created a perception of "adjusting the government".

THERE WERE THOSE WHO ARGUED THAT THE DIALOGUE WOULD HARM THE PARTY

Despite the presence of those who argued that the dialogue with the CHP could harm the AK Party under these circumstances, the general tendency was not to cut off communication with the opposition.

THE DIALOGUE FOUND SUPPORT FROM THE SOCIETY

It was stated that the dialogue ground, which was also revealed in public opinion polls, found support from the society and it was determined that the citizens did not want tension politics. It was emphasized that there could be mutual harsh statements and criticisms during election times, but there is no such atmosphere at the moment.

WARNING FROM ERDOĞAN ABOUT "PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE"

It was noted that Erdoğan particularly reacted strongly to Özgür Özel's statement referring to the MHP as a "partner in crime". Erdoğan said that any action or statement that would harm the People's Alliance should be responded to immediately.

"WE WILL NOT REMAIN SILENT AGAINST STATEMENTS THAT WILL HARM THE ALLIANCE"

Erdoğan said, "Let the dialogue ground continue, but we will not allow this ground to be abused or dragged into other debates. Our goal is to find common ground with the opposition on national issues. We cannot have any other partnership. Therefore, we will not remain silent against statements that will harm our alliance".
