Erdoğan's harsh words for CHP deputies who did not allow the Interior Minister to participate in commission meetings.

22.11.2024 18:21

President Erdoğan reacted to the exclusion of Minister Yerlikaya from the commission meetings by CHP lawmakers. Erdoğan stated, "Those who think they can intimidate by storming the commission are deeply mistaken. We have never bowed to thuggery at any point in our political life, and we will not do so in the future. The alliance that the CHP has established with the political apparatus of the separatist organization, which they call urban reconciliation, is poisoning the CHP."

In the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, President Erdoğan reacted to the obstruction of Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya and his accompanying delegation by CHP deputies during the budget discussions of the Ministry of Interior for the year 2025, stating, "I hope that the CHP will soon rid itself of this canteen leftism habit."

"THE OPPOSITION DID NOT SHARE IN OUR JOY"

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the Anadolu Agency Istanbul Energy Forum held at the Istanbul Congress Center. In his speech, President Erdoğan stated that while implementing all projects and taking all steps, they found no one beside the nation, saying, "While Turkey is truly making history in energy, our people have rejoiced and benefited from it. Life has become easier in many areas. Unfortunately, the opposition did not want to share this joy and pride, nor support it. Nuclear energy, natural gas discoveries, new pipelines, natural gas storage, oil wells—none of these were on the opposition's agenda. From our hydroelectric plants to our nuclear energy facilities, from the utilization of our mines to our oil and natural gas exploration efforts, none of our efforts received support from the government. They criticized our seismic exploration activities in the Eastern Mediterranean with a barrage of statements. They threw mud at our discovery in the Black Sea by saying they find natural gas before every election. They put forward absurd arguments to overshadow our oil discovery in Gabar. One of the most frequently heard criticisms from the opposition during this process was the question, 'What is Turkey doing in Somalia and Libya?'

"ACTORS CHANGED BUT CHP'S STOMACHACHE DID NOT"

For 22 years, the actors changed, the party leaders changed, but the opposition, especially the Republican People's Party, has never gotten over its stomachache regarding our energy initiatives. Now they have come out to invite us to the marketplace. While we were coming from the marketplace, you were going. As a political party, we are already present in the marketplace, on the streets, much more strongly than the opposition. We have never severed our bond with our people. We will not sever it from now on either. The real questions that need to be answered here are as follows: Why has the CHP never visited Turkey's pride projects in the energy sector even once? Has Mr. Özel not bothered to visit our natural gas facility in Filyos? Does Mr. Özel know where our Akkuyu plant is, what it does, and how it contributes to our energy supply security? What is the real reason behind the indifference of CHP officials towards our country's energy investments, or rather, their persistent indigestion? Instead of inviting us to places, Mr. Özgür Özel should first get to know Turkey's energy investments. He should visit these places. He should strive to be informed before forming an opinion. Otherwise, what he says to the public will have no meaning and will not have any impact," he said.

"CITY CONSENSUS INFECTING CHP"

President Erdoğan, who stated that they are open to all kinds of constructive criticism from the opposition, said, "Look, we are sincere from now on as well. We never give any credit to politics that is just for show. We have absolutely no tolerance for the violent images and brute force we witnessed the other day under the roof of our esteemed parliament. Those who think they are doing opposition by storming a commission where they have no authority are in a deep delusion. We have never bowed to thuggery, bullying, and urban banditry in any period of our political life spanning half a century, and we will not bow in the future either. I have mentioned this before, and I emphasize it again today. The alliance that the Republican People's Party has established with the political apparatus of the separatist organization, which they call city consensus, is infecting and poisoning the CHP, making it prone to violence. I hope that the CHP will soon rid itself of this canteen leftism habit," he said.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya and his accompanying delegation were not allowed into the hall by CHP deputies during the budget discussions of the Ministry of Interior for the year 2025. CHP members, reacting to the appointment of a trustee to the Esenyurt Municipality, blocked the entrance of Minister Yerlikaya to the commission meeting room by practically barricading the door, saying, 'You did not let us into the Esenyurt Municipality.' During those moments, a scuffle broke out among the deputies, and Minister Yerlikaya found himself in the middle of that scuffle. Yerlikaya and his entourage broke through the CHP blockade with the help of security and entered the hall. During those moments, a scuffle occurred between Minister Yerlikaya and CHP deputies.
