Eurasia: COVID-19 Cases, Deaths Continue Rising

Coronavirus outbreak continues to grow in Eurasia as many countries continue to confirm more cases and deaths.

In Kazakhstan, the count of confirmed cases climbed to 61,755 with 1,856 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours, according to data shared by the Health Ministry.

While the country's fatalities stood at 375, total recoveries rose to 35,911 as the country reported 1,721 new recoveries.

In Ukraine, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said the country registered 638 new infections in the past 24 hours, bringing total toll to 54,771.

He said that the tally of fatalities rose to 1,412 as 14 more people died from the virus, adding more than 27,000 people recovered.

In Uzbekistan, the two fresh deaths brought the virus fatalities to 64 whereas confirmed cases rose to 13,872 with 512 additions.

A total of 8,030 people recovered from the disease in Uzbekistan which has so far conducted 1.2 million tests across the country.

In Kyrgyzstan, the Health Ministry announced that official cases rose to 11,538 with 421 new infections in the past 24 hours.

The death toll stood at 149 across the nation and more than 3,500 people recovered from the disease.

Meanwhile, the Armenian Health Ministry said that the official tally of COVID-19 cases increased to 32,490 as 339 more people were diagnosed with the virus since Monday.

With eight more fatalities, the virus death toll rose to 581 in the country where over 20,500 people recovered from the disease.

Almost 11,000 people are undergoing medical treatment to beat the disease there.

In Georgia, four more people contracted the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total count of cases to 1,030, according to a written statement by the Prime Ministry.

So far, 15 people lost their lives to coronavirus in the country, where 870 people recovered. Some 5,000 people are being held under quarantine whereas 219 others are kept under surveillance in hospitals.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed over 573,000 lives in 188 countries and regions since it originated in China last December.

More than 13.11 million COVID-19 cases have been reported around the world so far, with recoveries exceeding 7.26 million, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
