KIRKPINAR EXCITEMENT ON JULY 3-5
Municipal teams are continuing their work at the wrestling arena and Sarayiçi for the event to be held in Edirne on July 3-5. Maintenance and repair work is being carried out on the stands and areas to be used by wrestling enthusiasts, while the wrestling field is being cleared of weeds. Teams are also conducting pest control against flies and insects outside the field.
2 TONS OF OLIVE OIL TO BE USED
Two tons of olive oil to be used for oiling the wrestlers competing in the meadow during the event have been brought to the arena. The olive oil, supplied by Trakya Birlik, was received by Edirne Municipality teams and transported to storage.
"WE ARE WAITING FOR ALL WRESTLING ENTHUSIASTS"
Tayfun Zafer, Head of Edirne Municipality's Culture, Arts, and Social Affairs Department, told reporters that preparations for Kırkpınar are ongoing. Stating that repair and painting work is being done on the stands, Zafer said, "Our work inside the field continues as well. We are removing wild weeds from the blessed meadow where the wrestlers will compete. We water the meadow every day. The 665th Historical Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling will be held in Edirne on July 3, 4, and 5. We are waiting for all wrestling enthusiasts." Zafer thanked Trakya Birlik, which provides olive oil support for the wrestlers every year.
