LAND AND AIR UNITS DISPATCHED
According to a statement by the Balıkesir Governorate, a fire broke out in a vehicle traveling on the highway around 13:00 in the Düvertepe Neighborhood area of Sındırgı district. The flames, which grew rapidly, spread to the forested area along the roadside. Upon the notification, numerous land and air units were dispatched to the region.
A large-scale mobilization was initiated to bring the fire under control. In the extinguishing operation, a total of 15 aircraft, including 7 planes and 8 helicopters, took part from the air; on land, an effective effort against the flames is being carried out with 31 water tenders, 3 fire engines, 16 water tankers, 8 first response vehicles, 21 service vehicles, 4 bulldozers, 2 ambulances, and 295 personnel. The teams' efforts to control the fire continue unabated.
THE ENERGY OF THE FLAMES HAS DROPPED
Throughout the night, teams from the Balıkesir Regional Directorate of Forestry intervened on the ground with reinforcements from surrounding provinces. With the first light of morning, air power also began to intervene in the fire. As the fire reached its 20th hour, it was learned that the energy of the flames had dropped thanks to the intense efforts of the teams.
