Family physicians, midwives, and nurses will not provide services for 5 days between January 6-10. Secondary and tertiary healthcare workers will stop working for 1 day on Wednesday, January 8, to support family physicians.
WHY ARE FAMILY PHYSICIANS ON STRIKE?
Family physicians, who have previously gone on strike twice, are demanding that the physical and medical equipment of Family Health Centers be provided by the public. Their demands also include a limit of 2,000 registered patients per physician and the strengthening of the violence in healthcare law.
"DESPITE OUR CONTINUING ACTIONS..."
Dr. Derya Mengücük, the General President of the Union and Solidarity Union, stated regarding the issue, "Despite our ongoing actions since November, the Ministry of Health's indifferent statements, as if there are no problems in the healthcare sector, show that they are far from a realistic and solution-oriented understanding."
"WE DESERVE FAIR WAGES"
Continuing her statement, Mengücük said, "We are determined in our demands": "Our people deserve quality and humane healthcare services. We, as healthcare workers, also deserve fair wages that reflect our retirement, do not erode with inflation, and do not decrease with tax brackets, rather than being based on incentives and performance."
