The Family Physicians' Contract and Regulation came into effect on November 1, despite all objections from physicians and professional organizations.
Fourteen organizations, including the Turkish Medical Association (TBB), unions, and relevant associations, decided to go on a three-day strike to protest the regulation.
"THE NUMBER OF DEPARTING HEALTHCARE WORKERS WILL INCREASE"
Physicians state that resignations have already begun among healthcare personnel working in family health centers (ASM), and it is anticipated that the number of healthcare workers leaving the ASMs will continue to rise due to the regulation, which is considered to cause loss of rights. Physicians complain that the new regulation focuses more on the quantity of work rather than its quality, and following these complaints, the 'Torture Regulation' action was initiated.
"WE ARE BEING CRUSHED UNDER PERFORMANCE PRESSURE"
Some family physicians who took to the streets expressed the following; "We are responsible for patients who do not come to us, our points are deducted. We are again responsible for patients who go to the hospital, and our points are deducted. Our points are deducted due to patient satisfaction. All of these are very difficult processes, we are constantly being crushed under performance pressure."
"As a physician with 28 years of experience in this country, I oppose the intervention in the treatment of my aunt Ayşe, whom I have served for 5 years, and my uncle Ali. Because they chose me as their family physician because they trust me. You cannot prevent this in this way."
"IMPOSITIONS UNDERMINE PROFESSIONAL HONOR"
"There are many points we oppose, but at the forefront are our professional honor and principles. These impositions undermine professional honor. We want our opinions to be taken into account when such regulations are prepared."
"ACCESS TO HEALTH SERVICES IS BEING CUT OFF BY PHYSICIANS"
"The health system is being commercialized. They started with family physicians at the most basic level because if they break this, other levels will follow. This is a health transformation program. Access to health services is being cut off by physicians."
The three-day strike initiated in the health sector is supported by the Family Physicians' Associations Federation (AHEF), the Family Physicians' Employees Union (AHESEN), the Federation of Family Health Workers Midwives and Nurses Associations (ASEF), the Union and Solidarity Union of Primary Health Workers, General Health Business, Physician Union, Physician-Sen, Health and Social Services Workers Union, Physician-Sen, All Radiology Technicians and Technicians Association (TÜMRAD-DER), All Physicians Union, and the Turkish Family Physicians Specialty Association.
