Fatih Erbakan: We have no intention of coming together with the People's Alliance again.

05.01.2025 18:21

The leader of the New Welfare Party, Fatih Erbakan, stated, "We have no intention of coming together with the People's Alliance again; it is out of the question. We can consider forming an alliance with parties that appeal to the conservative base in the opposition and right-wing voters in the parliamentary elections, outside of the People's Alliance."

The General President of the New Welfare Party (YRP), Fatih Erbakan, made striking statements during a television program he attended. Stating that "we have closed the file on the People's Alliance," Erbakan said they would also nominate their own candidates in the presidential elections.

"WE HAVE NO INTENTION OF COMING TOGETHER WITH THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE AGAIN"

In response to the question "What does President Erdoğan mean to you?", Erbakan said, "We are acting with the thought that what has been tried should not be tried again. We have no intention of coming together with the People's Alliance again; it is out of the question. Our organizations, our voters, and our people want it this way. Our executives and party management think the same. In the consultations and discussions held, especially due to the non-compliance with the consensus text in the May 14 elections, we express that we have closed this file. We may consider an alliance in the upcoming general elections for the parliamentary elections."

"THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE WILL BE NOMINATED BY THE NEW WELFARE PARTY ITSELF"

Erbakan concluded his remarks as follows: "We may consider an alliance with parties that appeal to the conservative base in the opposition and right-wing voters in the parliamentary elections outside the People's Alliance. But the presidential candidate will be nominated by the New Welfare Party itself. We have made this decision. Because in one election, we withdrew in favor of the esteemed President, and it is not politically appropriate to refrain from entering the election in favor of another candidate in another election. If the New Welfare Party is to have a presidential candidate, it is very natural for it to be the General President."
