WHO IS FERDİ TAYFUR?Born on November 15, 1945, in Adana, the artist, whose full name is Ferdi Tayfur Turanbayburt, was named by his father Cumali Bey, who was a fan of the voice actor Ferdi Tayfur. After the death of his father, his education came to an end, and although his mother remarried and he wanted to study, Tayfur could not find the opportunity due to the poor and tragic life he lived. During his childhood, he apprenticed in his stepfather's candy store. The artist learned to read in the business world and later began to contribute to his family's livelihood by working on a farm, singing at weddings during the same years. ADANA RADIO WAS A TURNING POINTThe artist, who participated in the music competition of Adana Radio after seeing its advertisement in a local newspaper and came in second, came to Istanbul despite his stepfather's obstruction and found a job at Lunapark Gazinosu, where he started playing the bağlama with Nurten İnnap. Ferdi Tayfur, who recorded his first single titled "Leyla" and earned 500 lira from this record, signed a two-record deal with Seda Plak in 1968. Not receiving the expected interest, the artist returned to Adana and took charge of the farm work. During these years, the artist continued his music studies, and after a three-year break, his record titled "I Have No Peace" was released. The artist, who gained attention in 1973 with the 45 RPM record titled "Wildflowers" made for Görsev Plak, announced his name in 1974 with the 45 RPM record titled "Tell Me the Truth." EVERYONE KNEW HIM WITH THE SONG "ÇEŞME"Ferdi Tayfur transferred to Elenor Plak in 1975 and gained a large fan base with the songs "Leave This Exile" and "Çeşme," making his name known throughout the country. His first record sold more than expected, but due to financial difficulties, two songs he composed were sold to Gülden Karaböcek at the initiative of Atilla Alpsakarya, the owner of Elenor Plak. The artist made his real breakthrough with the song "Çeşme." His first feature film, also titled "Çeşme," in which he starred alongside Necla Nazır, was released in 1976 and was watched by 12 million people. HIS ALBUMS AND CONCERTS BROKE RECORDSTayfur's album "Prangalar," released in 1992, became one of the best-selling albums in Turkey with 5 million copies sold. Tayfur, who met with his fans at concerts, broke the record at his concert held in Gülhane Park in 1993, with 200,000 attendees.
