A response came from Gürsel Tekin, the Chairman of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Temporary Board, to the words of former CHP MP Fikri Sağlar, who said, "People either find their place with money or ideology; you can rent them." Tekin reacted by saying, "I am not for rent, Sağlar. But it is clear that you consider it your right to speak with the logic of those who are for rent."
Former CHP deputy Fikri Sağlar's remarks directed at Gürsel Tekin during a program, stating, "People either find their place with money or ideology. You can buy them... but you can rent those people," sparked controversy. Gürsel Tekin responded to Sağlar's words with a long and harsh statement.
Referring to his 40-year political history, Tekin said, "I have seen the days when this party was below the electoral threshold. I did not bow to lynchings, nor did I succumb to pressure. Throughout my political life, I have never mixed with those who were aligned with a phone call. CHP is my family. My political career started with CHP and will end as a CHP member."
Tekin rejected the implications of Sağlar's statements, saying, "I am not for rent, Sağlar. But it seems you consider it your right to speak with the logic of those who are for rent."
"THE MONEY TO BUY ME, THE POWER TO RENT ME HAS NOT BEEN INVENTED"
In his statement, Tekin clearly indicated that the allegations were directed at him and continued his words as follows:
"My stance has been formed through forty years of struggle. I have never engaged in dark markets throughout my life. It is even shameful to mention in the same sentence those who have put their bodies into this party and those who produce gossip behind closed doors."
Tekin reacted to Sağlar by saying, "You will think not twice, but ten times before you mention my name."
"BRING IT ON!"
Gürsel Tekin also sent an open invitation to Sağlar:
"Bring it on, Sağlar. If you have the courage to stand behind your words, come and let’s go on TV screens. Sit across from me. Let’s see who is what, who is for sale, who is for rent; let everyone see the truth."
