First comment on June inflation figures from Mehmet Şimşek

According to the latest figures released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, inflation in June decreased to 1.64% monthly and 71.60% annually.

Hazine ve Maliye Başkanı Mehmet Şimşek, commenting on the inflation figures announced by TÜİK, stated on his social media platform X account that "the deflation process has begun."

"INFLATION TREND IS IN LINE WITH OUR YEAR-END TARGET"

Minister Şimşek stated, "The inflation trend implied by the annualized value of the seasonally adjusted three-month moving average is in line with our year-end target. The monthly June data of 1.64% indicates an annualized inflation rate of 22%."

"WE WILL ENSURE SUSTAINABLE WELFARE INCREASE"

We will achieve significant success in deflation, which is the main goal of our program, in areas such as financial stability, sustainable current account deficit, reserve accumulation, and removal from the gray list. We will ensure sustainable welfare increase by implementing our program with determination until price stability is achieved," he said.
