Flamengo, Velez Sarsfield, Palmeiras Reach Semifinals Of 2022 Copa Libertadores

Brazilian teams Flamengo, Palmeiras, and Argentine club Velez Sarsfield have reached the semifinals of the 2022 Copa Libertadores.

Flamengo on Wednesday beat the Corinthians 1-0 with Bruno Mendez's goal in the 68th minute and eliminated them with 3-0 aggregate.

Velez Sarsfield defeated Argentine club Talleres 1-0 with Julian Fernandez's goal in the 79th minute on Thursday and advanced to the semifinals with 4-2 aggregate.

Palmeiras on Thursday reached the semifinals as they beat Atletico Mineiro 6-5 in penalties, after the second-leg match ended 0-0 in normal time and the first-leg game ended 2-2.

In the last game of the 2022 Copa Libertadores quarterfinals, Estudiantes de La Plata will host Brazilian team Paranaense on Friday.

Copa Libertadores de America, an annual international football competition organized by the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) since 1960, is the top-tier competition in South American club football.

Argentine team Independiente is the most successful club with seven titles, while the reigning champions are Brazilian club Palmeiras. -
