Football: UEFA Dismisses Appeal Of Turkey's Besiktas

The European football's governing body, UEFA, dismissed the appeal of Turkish team Besiktas on Monday about a crowd disturbance incident during the UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg match against Lyon in France.

In a statement, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) said that on April 19 it decided to exclude Besiktas and Lyon from participating in the next UEFA club competition after crowd disturbances, setting off of fireworks and throwing of objects.

Besiktas had lodged an appeal to the UEFA body for revoking the decision; however, the body dismissed the Turkish club's appeal.

The decision of April 19, the exclusion of Besiktas and Lyon's UEFA participation, has been deferred for a probationary period of two years. Both clubs were also fined €100,000 . -
