Forest fire in Dikili district of Izmir! Flames were brought under control hours later.

The forest fire that broke out in Dikili district of Izmir and approached residential areas continues to be intervened from the air and land. One site that the fire approached was evacuated.

FOREST FIRE HAS NOT BEEN BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL FOR HOURS

A fire broke out in the forested and shrubby area in Çandarlı neighborhood for reasons yet to be determined during the daytime. Upon notification, 4 planes, 5 helicopters, 11 fire trucks, 5 water supply vehicles, 3 bulldozers, and 2 ground teams affiliated with the Izmir Forest Regional Directorate were dispatched to the scene.

EVACUATION OF THE SITE WHERE THE FLAMES APPROACHED

Mavikent Site, where the flames approached due to the effect of the wind, was evacuated. The Çandarlı-Denizköy road was also closed to traffic due to the fire.

AIR AND LAND INTERVENTION CONTINUES

Avni Oral, the Acting District Governor of Bergama, who is acting as the Governor of Dikili, stated that reinforcements were made to the teams intervening in the fire and that the intervention is ongoing with 10 planes, 6 helicopters, 25 fire trucks, 9 water supply vehicles, 3 bulldozers, and 2 ground teams.

Oral, stating that necessary precautions have been taken regarding residential areas in the fire, provided the following information: "The fire has been partially brought under control in the section related to residential areas. There is no problem here. However, work is still ongoing in the forested area, which is the other progression point of the fire. There is currently no residential area under threat in this regard. There is no situation of the fire spreading to houses. Only partial damage occurred in 3 houses in one site."

COUNTRY HOUSE TURNED INTO ASHES

While a country house in the region was reduced to ashes in the fire, the olive trees in the garden also burned. Mehmet Karaçam, the owner of the garden, said, "I came here. The first fire brigade arrived, then the gendarmerie told me to 'Move your vehicle from here.' I said, 'This is my house,' and went to Denizköy to pick up my wife. By the time I came back, the fire had reached here. My 10 years of effort disappeared in 10 seconds. The olive grove left by my father also disappeared." While intervention continues from the air and land in the fire, it was stated that the extinguishing efforts are progressing positively.
