22.04.2024 17:27

5 time Premier League champions join ex Arsenal, Chelsea left back Ashley Cole on 2024 honors list.

Former Manchester United forward Andrew Cole, and ex-Chelsea captain John Terry were inducted into the English Premier League's Hall of Fame on Monday.

The Premier League in a statement said five-time champions Andrew Cole and Terry were added to the league's 2024 honors list, joining Ashley Cole, a former Arsenal and Chelsea left-back and one of the well-known players in the European football.

Ashley Cole, who was one of the greatest defenders in the English top-flight league, was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame in March.

The league said Cole and Terry were picked from a shortlist of 15 ex-players after votes from fans that were combined with those of the Premier League Awards Panel.

The three new inductees will be recognized at a celebratory event in London on Tuesday.

The Premier League Hall of Fame is the most prestigious individual award given to players to honor their records and performances on the pitch, as well as their contribution to the Premier League, since 1992.

It was launched in 2021 with the inaugural inductees David Beckham, Dennis Bergkamp, Eric Cantona, Thierry Henry, Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane, Frank Lampard and Alan Shearer.

In 2022, Sergio Aguero, Didier Drogba, Vincent Kompany, Wayne Rooney, Peter Schmeichel, Paul Scholes, Patrick Vieira and Ian Wright entered the Hall of Fame.

Scottish Sir Alex Ferguson (Manchester United) and France's Arsene Wenger (Arsenal) were named as the first managerial inductees in 2023.

Tony Adams, Petr Cech and Rio Ferdinand, the former Premier League players, were also added last year. -
