Former Scottish Prime Minister Alex Salmond has passed away in the city of Ohrid, located in the southwest of North Macedonia.
According to a report by North Macedonia's official news agency Media Information Agency (MIA), Salmond, who was in the country to attend the Second Cultural Diplomacy Forum organized under the patronage of former North Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, fell ill during the forum. FOUND DEAD IN HIS HOTELIt was announced that Salmond died in the hotel where the forum was held. No information has yet been provided regarding the cause of the former prime minister's death. The 69-year-old Salmond served as the First Minister of Scotland from 2007 to 2014. In response to the news of his passing, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer shared a condolence message, stating that Salmond had been an important figure in Scottish and UK politics for over 30 years and left a lasting legacy.
