Germany: One Under Arrest İn Paris Attack Probe

27.11.2015 20:33

A 24 year old arms dealer is suspected of delivering weapons used in terrorist attacks in Paris.

Police in Germany have arrested a 24-year-old German citizen on suspicion of selling automatic rifles over the Internet to suspects of the Paris attacks just a few days before the onslaught Nov. 13, authorities said Friday.

Prosecutor's office in southern state of Stuttgart has confirmed an ongoing investigation in relation to the Paris gun and bomb attacks that killed 130 people.

"Investigations to date has given indications that support the suspicion that the suspect could have sold four assault rifles to a customer in Paris in November 2015," the office said in a written statement.

"Possible connections to attacks in Paris are currently under investigation," it added.

Earlier, German daily Bild reported that suspected arms dealer from the small town of Magstadt is believed to have sold four AK-47 Kalashnikov automatic rifles to a customer in France over the Internet on Nov. 7, six days before the carnage.

Police has confirmed that during a search at suspect's house on Nov. 23, several guns have been found, but did not give any details.

The suspect is believed to have sold illegal weapons over a hidden Internet platform known as "Darknet", which can only be accessed by using a specific software. - Berlin
