Protests and strikes against environmental degradation continued across the globe in April, with demonstrators demanding decisive action to tackle climate change.

Activists and netizens continued online campaigns and street protests while keeping socially distant due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The events included Fridays for Future's weekly protests as well as anti-government protests over failing climate policies.

April 1:

During the first Fridays for Future strike of the month, climate activists and environmental protesters continue to raise awareness of climate change, with nonprofit groups supporting their efforts.

April 6:

Dozens of climate activists cover Spain's parliament building with red paint, protesting the government's failure to act quickly enough on climate change.

April 7:

Hundreds of protesters march towards the Royal Bank of Canada's headquarters in Quebec to protest the financing of a pipeline project that "violates indigenous peoples' rights."

April 8:

On the second Fridays for Future strike of April, climate activists and environmental protesters continue to raise awareness of climate change and environmental issues.

April 13:

Climate activists, including Lebanese protesters on social media, criticize insurance companies that finance "Israeli illegal settlements and environmental crimes."

April 15:

Fridays for Future holds third strike of the month, with climate activists and environmental protesters raising awareness of climate change and environmental issues.

Over 200 people have been arrested in London so far this month, the Metropolitan Police announces, as protesters from the environmental group Extinction Rebellion continue their demonstrations over the Easter weekend.

April 16:
