A meeting was held in Aqaba, Jordan, to address the recent situation in Syria. The critical meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. MINISTER FIDAN AT THE SYRIA SUMMITForeign Minister Hakan Fidan continues his diplomatic contacts due to the events in Syria. Minister Fidan attended the Syria-themed meeting held in Aqaba, Jordan. Upon Jordan's invitation, foreign ministers from the Arab Ministerial Contact Committee, which includes Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League, as well as the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, and Qatar, participated in the meeting. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell, and the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen were also present at the summit. BILATERAL MEETINGS WILL ALSO BE HELDThe meeting, which will discuss the current situation in Syria, addressed the support that the international community can provide during the transition period. Starting in the afternoon, Minister Fidan will also hold bilateral meetings.
