A Halloween party held at a nightclub in Syria's city of Aleppo caused controversy in the country. At the celebration, held for the first time after the overthrow of the Assad regime, men and women wearing horror-themed costumes enjoyed themselves accompanied by music and light shows. While the images drew the reaction of some Syrians, others interpreted the event as a sign that social life has changed in the new era.
After the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria on December 8, 2024, another item was added to discussions regarding the country's social and cultural life. Footage shared from a Halloween celebration held at a nightclub in Aleppo brought about differing views.
THEY WORE COSTUMES AND HAD FUN WITH MUSIC
Men and women attending the event at the nightclub wore Halloween-specific costumes and applied horror-themed makeup to their faces.
In the footage, participants were seen dancing and having fun accompanied by loud music and colorful light shows.
"THEY ARE CELEBRATING THE DEVIL'S HOLIDAY" REACTION
After the footage spread, different assessments were made in the country regarding the celebration. While some segments reacted to the event with the words, "They are celebrating the devil's holiday," others interpreted the celebration as a sign of a freer social life in the new era.
On the other hand, this is not the first Halloween event held in Syria. In 2022, a celebration attended by hundreds of people was also organized in the capital, Damascus.
