A man in İzmir took his wife, who was in the process of getting a divorce, to an empty plot of land and shot her with a gun before taking his own life with the same weapon.

The incident occurred in the Uzundere neighborhood of the Karabağlar district, where furniture maker Hüsamettin Göktaş drove his estranged wife, Aslıhan Göktaş, to an empty plot of land.

Göktaş fired his gun at Aslıhan Göktaş's head while they were there.

Aslıhan Göktaş collapsed to the ground in a pool of blood, and then he shot himself in the head with the same gun.

AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED

Health teams were dispatched to the scene after reports from those who heard the gunshots. Upon examination by the health teams, it was determined that the Göktaş couple had lost their lives.

The bodies of the Göktaş couple were taken to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy after an investigation was conducted at the scene. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
