Thomas Fahmy, who was struck by lightning while going to a dentist appointment in New York, USA, survived the incident without burns despite collapsing to the ground. Fahmy, who narrowly escaped death, said he was given a second chance and went to church to give thanks.
The incident that occurred in Staten Island, New York, USA, was captured second by second by a security camera. Thomas Fahmy collapsed to the ground instantly after being struck by lightning while walking toward his car to head to a dental appointment in rainy weather.
In the footage, Fahmy is seen walking with an umbrella when a strong flash of light appears, followed by him falling to the ground. Fahmy recounted that despite the shock, he did not lose consciousness and managed to get back on his feet shortly after, seeking help from a nearby house.
"BURNING SENSATION, NUMBNESS, AND SEVERE PAIN"
Describing what he experienced, Fahmy said that after the lightning strike, he felt symptoms all over his body that he had never felt before.
Fahmy noted a intense burning sensation across his body, along with tingling and numbness, as well as severe pain, particularly in both of his feet.
NO BURNS FOUND ON HIS BODY
After the incident, Fahmy was taken to Northwell Staten Island University Hospital and kept under observation overnight. During the checks, no visible burns or serious injuries were found on his body. He was discharged from the hospital the next day.
Regarding his health checks, Fahmy stated, "There are no burns. My body was examined many times, and there were no burns at all."
WENT TO CHURCH AND GAVE THANKS
Fahmy, who narrowly escaped death, said that his perspective on life changed after the experience. He mentioned that he went to church on Sunday to thank God for surviving and described the event as a second chance given to him.
Another striking detail of the incident was that Fahmy bought a Mega Millions lottery ticket a few days later.
