Turkey was shaken by the revelations regarding the 'Newborn gang', which was reported to have been investigated on May 21, 2023, under the coordination of the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, following an application to CİMER and a notification from the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate. It is known that 10 babies have lost their lives due to the gang that terrorized families giving birth through the hospitals they collaborated with and the newborns just opening their eyes to life. While the Ministry of Health continues its investigation into the hospitals mentioned in the inquiry, the licenses of 7 more hospitals have been revoked following Bağcılar Private Şafak Hospital and Medilife Health Services. Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu made important statements regarding the baby-killing gang that has become a national agenda during a television program he attended. WHEN DID THE FIRST REPORT COME?Minister Memişoğlu stated regarding when the first report about the 'Newborn gang' came, "Unfortunately, we are talking about an inhumane, murderous gang that has either failed to care for our babies or caused their deaths." Minister Memişoğlu continued his statement as follows: "We have dismantled this murderous gang. We conducted secret operations. This gang is a murderous gang targeting the lives of babies. A gang that has not received the blessings of humanity. The first report came through the Ministry in March 2023. Inspection teams went to the relevant hospitals and conducted inspections. However, they could not find anything in terms of evidence. However, they noticed something: The inspection team came to me saying, 'We couldn't find evidence, but there is a problem.' We had suspicions, but we couldn't substantiate them. On April 26, 2024, an operation was carried out against this gang by the police. As of November 24, 2023, it was reported to our ministry's inspection board that an investigation was underway," he stated. WE DISMANTLED THE GANG WITH THE CİMER APPLICATIONWe continued inspections in September, October, and November 2023. In May 2023, we put them under secret surveillance. We continued the inspections. In December 2023, we assigned inspectors. After December 5, 2023, the process was brought under control. Until that time, the evidence was not in our hands. The Ministries of Interior, Justice, and Health worked with great confidentiality from the moment the first report came in. Once the evidence arrived, the licenses began to be revoked. The financial branch sent the evidence on September 3, 2024. We dismantled the gang with the CİMER application.
