A psychiatrist specialist, Ferit Karaduman, who was found to have prescribed drugs with narcotic properties for money at his private clinic in Konya, was sentenced to 15 years and 9 months in prison for the crime of 'trafficking or supplying narcotic or stimulant substances.' Although Karaduman claimed in his defense that his aim was to save patients from drugs, the court found the defendant guilty.

Konya Police Department Narcotics Crime Prevention Branch teams learned at the beginning of last year that psychiatrist Dr. Ferit Karaduman was prescribing pills with narcotic properties for money, mostly to drug addicts, at his private clinic in the İhsaniye neighborhood.

ARRESTED

Ferit Karaduman, who was detained in an operation following technical and physical surveillance, was arrested by the court to which he was referred.

"MY GOAL WAS TO HEAL PEOPLE"

Ferit Karaduman, tried in Konya 3rd Heavy Penal Court, stated in his defense at previous hearings that his aim was to heal people. In his statement, Karaduman said, "I was trying to heal these people. Some even exaggerated and attacked me. The people I prescribed for were people I trusted. I was not doing this as a business. My goal was to heal people, I did it to save them from drugs. Sometimes I also communicated with people via WhatsApp for treatment purposes."

15 YEARS 9 MONTHS PRISON SENTENCE
