Heavy rain and storm in Gaziantep and Kahramanmaraş: Roofs blown off, roads turned into lakes

A sudden downpour and storm in Gaziantep and Kahramanmaraş caused major damage in the region. In Gaziantep, strong winds blew building roofs onto vehicles, and a hospital's exterior cladding was completely shattered by the storm. Citizens used blankets and rugs to protect their cars from walnut-sized hail. Landslides occurred in the rural areas of Kahramanmaraş.

CAUGHT UNPREPARED, CITIZENS PANICKED

Citizens caught unprepared by the rain panicked, while some took shelter in covered areas and safety points to protect their vehicles.

Some citizens tried to protect their cars from hail by covering them with blankets and rugs.

ROOFS FLEW OFF, VEHICLES STRANDED ON ROADS

Due to the wind, some buildings' roofs flew off and fell onto street vehicles. Cars struggled to move on roads that turned into lakes. Some vehicles remained stranded.

BOSSAN HOSPITAL SUFFERED MAJOR DAMAGE

Bossan Hospital also fell victim to the storm. The hospital's exterior cladding suffered extensive damage.

SAME SCENE IN KAHRAMANMARAŞ

In Kahramanmaraş, the storm also affected the city. During the heavy rain, puddles formed on streets and avenues, and drivers had difficulty navigating through traffic.

LANDSLIDES OCCURRED IN RURAL AREAS

In rural areas, the softening of the ground due to rain caused small-scale landslides in places. Citizens trying to escape the downpour took shelter under eaves and bus stops.

The torrential rain, which lasted about half an hour, then subsided.
