The General Directorate of Meteorology warned against showers expected to be effective across Turkey in the new week. While very strong and locally severe rainfall is expected in Muğla until Tuesday morning, it was announced that in Istanbul on Wednesday the shower will increase in intensity along with strong wind. While attention was drawn to the risk of flash floods, flooding, lightning, and disruptions in transportation, it was stated that starting Thursday, air temperatures will drop noticeably starting from the west.
The new week will be rainy in many provinces, especially Muğla and Istanbul. The Meteorology warned against heavy rainfall especially in Muğla, and against the downpour that will intensify on Wednesday in Istanbul.
HEAVY RAIN ALERT IN MUĞLA! TO LAST UNTIL TUESDAY MORNING
Fevzi Burak Tekin, Weather Forecast Expert at the General Directorate of Meteorology of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, made assessments regarding the weather for the new week. Tekin announced that very strong and locally severe rainfall is expected around Muğla until Tuesday morning. In the western parts of İzmir and Aydın, strong showers are forecast until Monday morning. The Meteorology asked citizens to take precautions against possible adverse effects of the expected rainfall, especially in Muğla.

Drawing attention to the dangers that strong rainfall may bring, Tekin said: "Until tomorrow morning, we forecast strong rainfall in the western parts of İzmir and Aydın, and until Tuesday morning, very strong and locally severe rainfall around Muğla. We ask our citizens to be careful and take precautions against flash floods, flooding, lightning, strong winds during rainfall, local hail, the risk of tornado formation, and disruptions in transportation." The risk of flash floods, flooding, lightning, strong winds, hail and tornado formation was among the prominent headings in the Meteorology's warning.
PAY ATTENTION TO WEDNESDAY IN ISTANBUL! RAINFALL WILL INTENSIFY
In Istanbul, showers and locally thunderstorms will be effective during the first three days of the new week. Meteorology expert Tekin stated that especially on Wednesday, along with strong winds, rainfall will also increase in intensity. In the city, air temperature will be 19 degrees on Monday and 20 degrees on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the temperature will drop to 15-16 degrees. Thus, in Istanbul in the middle of the week, both an intensification of rainfall and a decrease in temperature are expected.
STARTING THURSDAY, TEMPERATURES WILL DROP NOTICEABLY
Across Türkiye, air temperatures are currently around seasonal norms. However, according to the Meteorology's forecasts, starting Thursday, temperatures will decrease noticeably, beginning in the western parts. Rainy weather will continue to affect many regions throughout the week. On Monday, rainfall will be seen in Marmara, the Aegean, Western Mediterranean, the west of Central Anatolia, Western Black Sea, the south of Eastern Anatolia and the east of Southeastern Anatolia. Showers are also expected around Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Osmaniye. On Tuesday, rainfall will continue in Marmara, the Aegean, Western Mediterranean, the west of Central Anatolia, Western Black Sea, the south of Eastern Anatolia, the north and west of Southeastern Anatolia, as well as Hatay and Osmaniye. On Wednesday, rainfall is expected to be effective across the country.
SHOWERS WILL ALSO BE EFFECTIVE IN ANKARA AND IZMIR
In Ankara, partly and slightly cloudy weather is expected on Monday, while rainfall will begin starting from the night hours. In the capital, showers will be seen intermittently on Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will be 19 degrees on Monday, 18 on Tuesday, and 16 on Wednesday. In Izmir, rainfall will be effective for three days. Strong showers are especially expected in coastal areas on Monday and Tuesday.
