The rainfall in Manavgat, Antalya, also adversely affected the historic Side Ancient City. The area where historical structures, including the Temple of Tyche, are located was filled with rainwater. With the rain stopping and the sun coming out, a rainbow was seen over the monumental fountain within the ancient city.
HOMES AND BUSINESSES WERE FILLED WITH WATER
In Manavgat, the heavy rain that started in the afternoon and lasted for 2 hours flooded homes and businesses in many neighborhoods. Vehicles were unable to proceed due to the water accumulation on streets and avenues. The D400 road towards Antalya was closed to traffic due to water accumulation in the Çakal Stream area. Vehicles stranded on the road were redirected to Side by traffic teams.
STATEMENT FROM AFAD
In a statement, AFAD indicated that 236 people were stranded due to the rainfall, stating, "In the excessive rainfall experienced, 106.6 kg of rain fell in our Manavgat district within 2 hours. A total of 420 reports were received by the 112 Emergency Call Center due to the rainfall, and our teams continue to intervene. The 236 citizens who were stranded have been safely evacuated to secure areas as a result of our teams' efforts. We extend our best wishes to all citizens affected by the rainfall."
RAINS NEGATIVELY AFFECTED LIFE IN ALANYA
In the Alanya district, the excessive rainfall caused water accumulation on the roads, particularly bringing vehicle traffic to a standstill in the Konaklı and Payallar neighborhoods. It was observed that vehicles were stranded in water accumulations in various areas. Drivers had to proceed cautiously due to the water accumulations on the road.
