ENGİN POLAT RELEASEDEngin Polat, who has been detained in prison for 10 months on charges of money laundering and illegal gambling, along with 3 other people, was released from the prison in Çorlu where they were held, with an interim decision by the court. Polat was welcomed by his wife Dilan Polat, their children, and many relatives. LUXURY CARS ATTRACTED ATTENTIONAfter the decision, Polat was released at around 18:00. The luxury brand cars of Polat's relatives who came to the prison entrance attracted attention. Polat entered the house with his family and did not answer the questions of the press members. The court board announced its interim decision and ordered the release of the detained defendants Engin Polat, Sezgin Polat, Alper Kürşat Polat, and Ahmet Gün. ALL DIGITAL MATERIALS AT THE POLICE WILL BE RETURNEDThe court decided to reject the request for the removal of the measures on the assets. The court decided to continue the travel ban on the defendants and lifted the adli control in the form of signature. The court decided to write a letter to the Prosecutor's Office to inquire about whether there is an investigation into the defendants for violation of tax procedure law and, if so, to ask about the outcome of the investigations. The court also decided to return the digital materials such as mobile phones, SIM cards, and computers, which were taken and imaged at the police, to their owners. POLAT CASEIn operations carried out in 6 provinces centered in Istanbul on November 1, 2023, and afterwards, suspects, including Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat, were detained. In the preliminary investigation report prepared by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), it was determined that there was an inflow of 200 million liras to the companies owned by family members through the method of issuing fake invoices in exchange for alleged trade from 3 liquidation companies. It was also found that a medical company owned by Dilan and Engin Polat gave the naming rights to another company in Ankara, and an attempt was made to transfer 1 million 800 thousand liras in the account of this company to the personal accounts of the partners. The Anatolian Republic Prosecutor's Office demanded that Dilan Polat and Engin Polat be sentenced to imprisonment for a total of 20 to 40 years on charges of 'establishing and managing an organization to commit a crime', 'money laundering of assets derived from crime', and 'violation of the Law on Organization of Football and Other Sports Competitions and Betting and Chance Games'. Other suspects had been requested prison sentences of varying lengths. Dilan Polat, who was arrested on November 5, 2023, as part of the investigation, was released on August 19, 2024.
