The Karatepe Prison entrance turned into a luxury car gallery due to the luxury vehicles of the relatives who came to welcome Engin Polat, who was released after the trial held at Istanbul Anatolian Courthouse.

ENGİN POLAT RELEASED

Engin Polat, who has been detained in prison for 10 months on charges of money laundering and illegal gambling, along with 3 other people, was released from the prison in Çorlu where they were held, with an interim decision by the court. Polat was welcomed by his wife Dilan Polat, their children, and many relatives.

After the decision, Polat was released at around 18:00. The luxury brand cars of Polat's relatives who came to the prison entrance attracted attention. The Karatepe Prison entrance turned into a car gallery with the value of the vehicles reaching millions.

HE ARRIVED HOME

Meanwhile, Engin Polat arrived at his home in Istanbul after being released. Polat entered the house with his family and did not answer the questions of the press members.

HE KISSED HIS WIFE'S HAND

When he came out of the prison, Engin Polat was greeted by his wife Dilan Polat, and he said, "We are very happy to be reunited with our family." Engin Polat immediately sat in the driver's seat of his car and kissed Dilan Polat's hand before driving away. Polat also took the bird he had been taking care of during his 10-month prison sentence with him.

4 DETAINED DEFENDANTS RELEASED

Engin Polat, Sezgin Polat, Alper Kürşat Polat, and Ahmet Gün, who were detained defendants, participated in the trial through the Audio and Visual Informatics System (SEGBIS). The court board announced its interim decision and ordered the release of the detained defendants Engin Polat, Sezgin Polat, Alper Kürşat Polat, and Ahmet Gün.

The court decided to reject the request for the removal of the measures on the assets. The court decided to continue the travel ban on the defendants and lifted the adli control in the form of signature. Meanwhile, Dilan Polat, upon hearing the release decision, shouted with joy and burst into tears. She jumped with joy, saying, "Thank God." Dilan Polat called her daughter Nilda and said, "Your father has been released." It was heard that her sister Sıla Doğu said, "Justice has been served."

POLAT CASE

In operations carried out in 6 provinces centered in Istanbul on November 1, 2023, and afterwards, suspects, including Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat, were detained. In the preliminary investigation report prepared by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), it was determined that there was an inflow of 200 million liras to the companies owned by family members through the method of issuing fake invoices in exchange for alleged trade from 3 liquidation companies. It was also found that a medical company owned by Dilan and Engin Polat gave the naming rights to another company in Ankara, and an attempt was made to transfer 1 million 800 thousand liras in the account of this company to the personal accounts of the partners.

The Anatolian Republic Prosecutor's Office demanded that Dilan Polat and Engin Polat be sentenced to imprisonment for a total of 20 to 40 years on charges of 'establishing and managing an organization to commit a crime', 'money laundering of assets derived from crime', and 'violation of the Law on Organization of Football and Other Sports Competitions and Betting and Chance Games'.

Other suspects had been requested prison sentences of varying lengths. Dilan Polat, who was arrested on November 5, 2023, as part of the investigation, was released on August 19, 2024.
