After the fall of the Baath regime in Syria, Syrians who have longed for their homeland due to the civil war have started to return to their country. As Syrians in Turkey return to their homeland, there is a congestion at the border gates. THE NUMBER OF SYRIANS RETURNING TO THEIR COUNTRY IS 1847Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the number of Syrians returning to their country from Turkey during the budget discussions in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Minister Yerlikaya stated, "The number of Syrians who voluntarily returned to their country was 240 when the regime in Damascus fell on December 8, and after Syria regained its freedom, this number reached 1847 yesterday. Currently, there are 2 million 938 thousand 261 Syrians in our country." On the other hand, President Erdoğan, in a statement after the Cabinet meeting, said the following regarding the return of Syrians: "As Syria stabilizes, voluntary, safe, dignified, and orderly returns will increase. It is my belief and prayer that the longing for their homeland that our Syrian brothers have experienced for 13 years will gradually come to an end. We have already started to see signs of this. To prevent congestion and facilitate traffic, we are also opening the Yayladağı border gate for crossings. We will manage the voluntary return process of the migrants in a manner befitting our history, culture, and 13 years of exceptional hospitality. We will not allow anyone to tarnish this humanitarian process."
