The new Minister of Health, Kemal Memişoğlu, took a critical step by meeting with members of the Health Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and former health ministers to prepare a priority problem list. In the meetings, where complaints about the mismanagement of city hospitals were prominent, recommendations such as "Firstly, family health centers should be transformed into strong polyclinics equipped with all technical facilities, structures similar to the old health center system should be established, and healthcare personnel should be reinforced" were expressed.

After the local elections on March 31, President Erdoğan made changes in the Cabinet. One of these changes was the appointment of Kemal Memişoğlu as the Minister of Health instead of Fahrettin Koca.

MEMİŞOĞLU'S FIRST ACTION IS KNOWN

It is claimed that Memişoğlu, who started his duty with problems, took a strategic step by inviting members of the Health Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and former health ministers and made a priority problems list.

PROBLEM OF CITY HOSPITALS

It was learned that one of the common problems conveyed to Minister Memişoğlu during the meetings was the mismanagement of city hospitals.

'RETURN TO THE OLD' SIGNAL IN THE SOLUTION

The solution proposal of the people consulted by Memişoğlu turned into a return to the old system. Nuray Babacan, a columnist for Gazete Pencere, reported that the following were mentioned in the meetings:

  • Family medicine should be transformed into powerful polyclinics with all technical equipment.
  • Structures similar to the old health center system should be established.
  • Health personnel should be reinforced.
  • Flow to city hospitals should be prevented unless necessary.
  • Neighborhood polyclinics should be made available for service day and night, even on weekends.
