Passenger transportation has started on the Çerkezköy-Kapıkule section of the Halkalı-Kapıkule High Speed Train Project. The first passenger train on the line, which was put into service with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, departed from Edirne. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that travel time between Çerkezköy and Edirne has dropped to 54 minutes. While 6 high-speed train services are being operated daily on the new line, the total number of services has reached 8 together with regional trains.
A new era has begun in high-speed train transportation. As passenger transportation has started between Çerkezköy and Edirne, the 54-minute journey time and new departure times have also been announced.
THE FIRST PASSENGER HIGH-SPEED TRAIN DEPARTED FROM EDİRNE
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that passenger services have started on the completed Çerkezköy-Kapıkule section within the scope of the Halkalı-Kapıkule High-Speed Train Project. The first passenger high-speed train departed from Edirne on the line that was put into service the previous day with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. With the new arrangement, travel time between Çerkezköy and Edirne has dropped to 54 minutes. A total of 6 high-speed train services will be operated daily in both directions between the two centers.
TRAINS OPERATE WITH A PASSENGER CAPACITY OF 411
Providing information on the passenger capacity of the high-speed trains, Uraloğlu announced that there are a total of 411 seats on the trains. Two of these seats were reserved for wheelchair users. Minister Uraloğlu said, "Our first passenger high-speed train between Çerkezköy and Edirne set off from Edirne. We operate 6 high-speed train services in both directions per day on our new line. Travel time between Çerkezköy and Edirne has dropped to 54 minutes with the high-speed train."
CONNECTING TRANSPORT WILL BE PROVIDED FROM HALKALI TO EDİRNE
With the new high-speed train line entering service, railway transportation in the region has also been reorganized. Two daily regional train services in both directions continue on the existing railway between Halkalı and Uzunköprü. Passengers who want to go from Halkalı to Edirne will be able to reach Çerkezköy by regional train and transfer from there to the high-speed train. Passengers traveling from Edirne to Halkalı will also be able to complete their journeys by transferring to regional trains in Çerkezköy.
A TOTAL OF 8 TRAIN SERVICES ARE OPERATED PER DAY
Minister Uraloğlu stated that high-speed train and regional train services will be maintained together and conveyed the details of the new transportation plan. Thus, the 6 high-speed train services between Çerkezköy and Edirne and the 2 regional train services between Halkalı and Uzunköprü make up a total of 8 daily passenger train services.
