A new development has occurred in the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the structure publicly known as 'Süleymancılar'. While 32 people, including the organization's leader Alihan Kuriş, were arrested, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Gökçen, one of the architects of the new Turkish Penal Code (TCK) that came into effect in 2005, was released under judicial control.
Under the coordination of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a large-scale and simultaneous operation was carried out on August 13. In the investigation into the criminal organization for profit, assessed to be led by Alihan Kuriş, the suspects were charged with laundering assets derived from crime, defrauding public institutions and organizations, and violating the Tax Procedure Law. Within the scope of the operation, a total of 38 people were detained, and 32 of the suspects, including Alihan Kuriş, who were referred to the courthouse, were arrested by the court.

One of the most striking names among the 38 detained suspects in the investigation file was Prof. Dr. Ahmet Gökçen, a faculty member of Marmara University Faculty of Law. Judicial proceedings were completed for Prof. Dr. Gökçen, who is also a former member of the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors and played critical roles in the preparation phase of the new Turkish Penal Code in 2005. The Criminal Judgeship of Peace, where he was brought, ruled that the famous jurist be released under judicial control.
OTHER NAMES RELEASED
Following the interrogation processes at the court, release decisions were also made for five more suspects in addition to Prof. Dr. Ahmet Gökçen. The judgeship decided that Yusuf Büyükgöze, Ömer Yılmaz, Ahmet Efe, İsmail Hakkı Akgün, and Selman Süleyman Keşkekçi should also be released under judicial control measures.
