Hours before the opening of the Olympic Games in France, sabotage was carried out on high-speed trains. During the attack on the signaling systems, numerous cables were cut while some were burned. It was reported that intercity transportation came to a halt, affecting already 800,000 passengers due to cancellations.

The Olympic Games, which are being held in Paris after a 100-year hiatus, will officially begin with today's opening ceremony. The opening ceremony of the games, which will start at 20:30 Turkish time, will last for 210 minutes.

While intense security measures have been taken in the French capital Paris for the games, news of sabotage came this morning. French officials reported that the country's high-speed train network was subjected to a sabotage attack just hours before the opening of the Olympics.

The AFP news agency reported that the sabotage, which was proven to be coordinated, aimed to paralyze the high-speed train network. The French railway company SNCF announced that three separate lines were set on fire and arson was committed.

800 THOUSAND PASSENGERS AFFECTED BY CANCELLATIONS

As of this morning, high-speed train services have been canceled in the capital Paris and many other cities, and there are queues at the stations. SNCF reported that 800,000 passengers are currently affected by the cancellations.

STATEMENT FROM THE RAILWAY COMPANY

The French national railway company SNCF made a statement about the disruptions in train services before the Olympic Games from its X account. The statement stated that train services in the west, north, and east of France were affected by the actions of "malicious individuals."

NUMEROUS TRAINS DIVERTED TO DIFFERENT LINES

In SNCF's statement, it was stated that there were also disruptions in trains going to neighboring country Belgium and to London under the English Channel due to these actions. The statement mentioned that after this "major attack" aimed at disrupting the high-speed train network, numerous trains were diverted to different lines or canceled.

"POSTPONE YOUR JOURNEYS"

The statement emphasized that notifications will be made to those affected by the disruptions in railway transportation and said, "We kindly request all passengers who have the opportunity to postpone their journeys and not go to the station."
