The Ministry of Interior announced that Tunceli Mayor Cevdet Konak and Ovacık Mayor Mustafa Sarıgül have been temporarily suspended from their duties. It was stated that Tunceli Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu was appointed as the acting mayor in place of Konak, and Ovacık District Governor Hüseyin Şamil Sözen was appointed as the acting mayor in place of Sarıgül.

While the repercussions of the incident continue, it has been learned that Hüseyin Şamil Sözen, who was appointed as the trustee in place of Ovacık Mayor Mustafa Sarıgül, was appointed as the Ovacık District Governor with the Presidential Decree published on November 2, and officially started his duty on November 18.

On the other hand, in a statement made on the Ministry of Interior's social media account regarding the appointments, the following expressions were included: "Due to Tunceli Mayor Cevdet Konak receiving a prison sentence of 6 years and 3 months for the crime of 'Being a Member of the PKK/KCK Armed Terrorist Organization' under the case numbered 2022/99 of the Tunceli 1st Heavy Penal Court, and the ongoing investigation by the Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office under investigation file number 2024/1146 for the crime of 'Making Propaganda for the PKK/KCK Terrorist Organization'; Cevdet Konak has been temporarily suspended from his duties by the Ministry of Interior in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393.

In accordance with Articles 45 and 46 of the Municipal Law No. 5393, Tunceli Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu has been appointed as the acting mayor of Tunceli.

Due to Ovacık Mayor Mustafa Sarıgül receiving a prison sentence of 6 years and 3 months for the crime of 'Being a Member of the PKK/KCK Armed Terrorist Organization' under the case numbered 2022/99 of the Tunceli 1st Heavy Penal Court; Mustafa Sarıgül has been temporarily suspended from his duties by the Ministry of Interior in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393.

In accordance with Articles 45 and 46 of the Municipal Law No. 5393, Ovacık District Governor Hüseyin Şamil Sözen has been appointed as the acting mayor of Ovacık by the Tunceli Governorate."
