"I am extending the ceasefire with Iran," said Trump, to which Tehran responded, "We do not recognize it."

Just before the ceasefire that has been ongoing between the U.S. and Iran since April 8 was set to expire, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that, at Pakistan's request, he has decided to extend the ceasefire until the Iranian administration presents its proposal regarding the agreement. Iran, on the other hand, declared that it does not recognize the extension of the ceasefire and will decide whether to comply or not.

Just before the ceasefire that has been ongoing since April 8th between the US and Iran is set to end, a new decision came from US President Donald Trump.

"I AM EXTENDING THE CEASEFIRE UNTIL IRAN PRESENTS ITS PROPOSAL"

In a statement made via his own social media platform, Trump announced that he has decided to extend the ceasefire until the Iranian administration presents its proposal for an agreement. Trump, arguing that the Iranian government is "seriously fragmented," stated, "Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir requested that we stop our attacks on Iran until Iranian leaders and representatives form a joint proposal."

Trump stated that the US Navy's blockade in the Strait of Hormuz would continue but the ceasefire between the parties would remain in effect, saying, "Therefore, I have instructed our military to maintain the blockade, to remain on high alert in every respect, and to extend the ceasefire until a proposal is presented and negotiations reach a positive or negative conclusion."

IRAN DID NOT ACCEPT THE EXTENSION OF THE CEASEFIRE

However, the Iranian side announced that it does not accept the extension of the ceasefire. In a statement from Iranian state television, it was said, "Iran does not recognize the extension of the ceasefire and will decide whether to comply with it based on national interests."

IRAN ANNOUNCED IT WILL NOT GO TO PAKISTAN

Furthermore, the Iranian administration, citing that Washington had not fulfilled its previous commitments, announced that it would not participate in the peace talks planned to be held in Pakistan. In a statement from Tehran, the US's oppressive stance was criticized, and it was emphasized that they would not sit at the table under the current conditions.

US VICE PRESIDENT ALSO CANCELED PAKISTAN VISIT

Following this development, US Vice President J.D. Vance, who was expected to go to the region to participate in the talks, also removed his Pakistan visit from his schedule. With diplomatic channels blocked, tensions escalated again just hours before the temporary ceasefire in the region was set to end. The efforts of Pakistan, which is in a mediator position, remained fruitless, and it was reported that both sides went on military alert. The international community fears that the diplomatic crisis may trigger a new hot conflict in the region.

IRAN: WE RECEIVED SIGNALS FROM THE US THAT THE BLOCKADE COULD BE LIFTED

Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Amir Saeid Iravani, said that if the blockade is lifted, the next round of negotiations between the parties could be held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The Permanent Representative also reiterated that Iran insists on the lifting of the US blockade in the Strait of Hormuz for the continuation of negotiations. Iravani said that if the US wants a political solution or war, Iran is prepared for both situations.

TRUMP HAD GIVEN A DEADLINE UNTIL APRIL 23

Iranian state television had announced that the ceasefire with the US, ongoing since April 8th, would end at 03:00 Turkish Time. US President Donald Trump had stated that the ceasefire would end on Wednesday evening Washington DC time (Thursday evening Turkish Time). The Pakistani side, which is mediating between the two countries, had announced that the ceasefire would end on Wednesday at 02:50 Turkish Time.
