MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli has again brought to the agenda the "100 Provinces 1000 Districts" project, which envisages radical changes in Türkiye's administrative structure. Stating that the project is a strategic growth move for Türkiye's future, Bahçeli emphasized transparency in local governments, merit, and efficiency in public services.
"QUALITY AND ACCESSIBILITY IN SERVICE WILL INCREASE"
Speaking to TÜRKGÜN newspaper, Bahçeli stated that while evaluating the districts that are province candidates, the goals of the "Turkish and Türkiye Century" were taken as the basis. Saying that the new administrative structure will eliminate the sluggishness in the civil administration, the MHP leader used the following statements:
"When the project is implemented, public services will be able to be offered to citizens from geographically closer points; quality and accessibility, effectiveness and efficiency in basic public services, especially education, health, security, and social services, will increase; administrative coordination will be strengthened and citizen satisfaction will rise significantly."
LEGISLATION AND PERSONNEL REGIME WILL BE RESTRUCTURED
Noting that both the central and local organizational structure of public administration need to be improved, Bahçeli drew attention to the need to review basic legislation such as the Metropolitan Municipality Law, the Municipality Law, the Village Law, the Provincial Administration Law, and the Special Provincial Administration Law. Requesting that the powers of local governments be clarified, Bahçeli underlined that the public personnel regime should be structured on the basis of merit and that the office of muhtar should be strengthened.
MP DISTRIBUTION WILL CHANGE, THE POLITICAL SPACE WILL EXPAND
Emphasizing that with the establishment of 19 new provinces and 78 new districts, a transformation will be experienced in the political structure as well as the administrative structure, Bahçeli stated that with the opening of new municipalities and the change in the distribution of MPs by province, the political space will expand.
