İmamoğlu and Kurum face each other again after months: 'Come on, close it down.'

The claim that the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change instructed municipalities to close daycare centers, first raised by CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın, continues to be debated.

İstanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum have once again come face to face with the claim in the race for the 2024 Local Elections in Istanbul.

"COME AND CLOSE IT"

Speaking at the Women's Violence Prevention Action Plan Meeting, İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu targeted Minister Murat Kurum, saying, "With this mindset, the nation will say get away from me at the next ballot box. There is no politics in such a matter. Your writing is irrelevant. Come and close it. Take this writing of yours and throw it in the trash," he stated.

"WE OPENED 105 DAYCARE CENTERS"

Ekrem İmamoğlu, stating that "There are these daycare centers we call children's activity centers, they wrote to us saying, 'We have determined that municipalities have opened daycare centers, municipalities should immediately close these daycare centers,'" said, "Now, I pray for them to have wisdom, you know what Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said? He said the reason for the failures our society has faced is the neglect and fault towards women. This mindset tells us to neglect women and children. There is no other explanation for this. We opened 105 daycare centers. We opened 105 daycare centers; it was zero," he added.

"OUR DAYCARE CENTERS BEAT YOUR CANAL ISTANBUL"

İmamoğlu also said, "Shall I tell you something even more interesting? Shall I tell you something even more interesting? In Istanbul, Izmir, and Ankara, the candidates nominated for the mayoralty promised daycare centers. Just yesterday, 8 months ago. Now, why did they show their candidates' promises for daycare centers? Because, do you remember what I said? Our daycare centers beat your Canal Istanbul. It won," he stated.

DISINFORMATION FIGHT CENTER DENIED

On the other hand, the claims that the ministry instructed the closure of daycare centers belonging to municipalities were denied by the Disinformation Fight Center.

In a statement from the center, it was said, "In the official letter concerning the claims, it is emphasized that the daycare centers, daytime care homes, and children's clubs opened by municipalities should not be closed, but should operate in accordance with their founding purpose and regulations."
