Leading representatives from the public, banking, insurance, and technology sectors gathered at the Bankasurance Summit 2026 in Istanbul. Speaking to the microphone of Haberler.com, Deputy Minister of Trade Mahmut Gürcan emphasized the importance of quickly implementing the decisions made, stating, "It is our ministry's responsibility to protect and defend the rights of our consumers. We are undertaking all necessary activities in this regard."
Istanbul hosted one of the most important meetings in the banking and insurance world. The 2026 Turkey Banking and Insurance Summit, organized under the theme "The Reach4 Era Begins in Banking and Insurance! 'Smart Growth Strategy'", was held at the Radisson Collection Hotel Vadistanbul.
The summit brought together all stakeholders in the sector, from banks and insurance companies to insurtech and fintech startups, technology providers, academic circles, and public authorities on the same platform. The developments in the banking and insurance field, growth strategies, and the future of the sector were comprehensively discussed at the event.
The opening speeches of the summit were delivered by Ahmet Yaşar, President of the Turkey Insurance Association, Osman Çelik, Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance, and Mahmut Gürcan, Deputy Minister of Trade.

Speaking to the microphone of Haberler.com, Deputy Minister of Trade Mahmut Gürcan stated that the summit plays a critical role for the sector and used the following expressions:
"We came together at the 2026 Banking and Insurance Summit. It is a summit where banking and insurance activities will be discussed, and how the sector can develop further in the coming days will be addressed here. I believe it is very important for the decisions made by participants from the sector to be quickly implemented by the ministries in the coming days. It is a developing, growing sector. It is growing very rapidly. But this growth has very important aspects both from the consumer's perspective and from the representatives of the sector. Especially considering that 86 million consumers benefit from this area, the protection and defense of our consumers' rights falls to our ministry. We are showing every kind of activity in that regard. However, the sector's own design and efforts to grow are also very important, and I believe this summit will hopefully pave the way for that."
