According to the information obtained, in the incident that occurred yesterday, Metin Ö. (37) today killed employee Ahmet Ercan and business owner Sabri Pan by firing a pistol at the butcher shop and restaurant in Kadelli Neighborhood of Tarsus district, where he had worked about 1 year ago. The suspect, who fled the scene in his white car with license plate 01 B 9171, also shot and killed truck driver Gökay Selfioğlu at a fuel station in Yeniköy Neighborhood. Continuing to flee, the suspect shot his ex-wife Arzu Özden, who was walking by the roadside in Darıpınarı Neighborhood of Çamlıyayla district, and killed Abdullah Koca in Yeniköy Neighborhood by rolling him into a ditch with a motorcycle. Continuing to flee, the suspect killed Yusuf Oktay, one of the young shepherds in Karakütük Neighborhood. During his attacks, the suspect also injured 8 people along the route. The injured were taken to hospitals, primarily Tarsus State Hospital, by ambulances and treated. After the massacre in which 6 people died and 8 were injured, numerous gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the region to capture the suspect. While helicopter-supported efforts to catch the fleeing suspect continue, the car with license plate 01 B 9171, in which the suspect fled, was found in the rural area of Karakütük Neighborhood.
The operation to capture the suspect, who is believed to have fled into the forested area, continued until morning. During search operations by gendarmerie teams, they determined that the suspect was in a house at the Çokak location in the rural area of Karakütük Neighborhood. In the operation, when the suspect realized he would be caught, he committed suicide with the gun he had.
