After the controversial match in Artvin, where 17 red cards were issued, Murgul Belediyespor decided not to take the field this weekend in response to the penalties and the decision to move the match to Artvin.
In Artvin, the disciplinary process regarding the match played between Murgul Belediyespor and Rize Atletik 1973 Spor on November 16 at Murgul District Stadium, which was interrupted due to a fight on the field, has been completed for the 2025-2026 season of the Regional Amateur League (BAL).
17 PLAYERS RECEIVED RED CARDS
In the 36th minute, Rize Atletik took the lead 1-0 with a goal from Enes Türüt, leading to tension among the players of both teams in the final moments of the first half. Following the escalating argument and the fight on the field, the referee suspended the match. The Amateur Football Disciplinary Board (AFDK), after reviewing the referee and representative reports as well as the footage provided by the clubs, announced that a total of 17 players received red cards related to the incidents.
AFDK also stated that Murgul Belediyespor exhibited unsportsmanlike behavior as a team and decided to impose a fine of 19,000 TL on the club, with 1,000 TL for each yellow card and 2,000 TL for each red card, in accordance with the Football Disciplinary Regulations. Due to the number of players on the field dropping below 7, Murgul Belediyespor was penalized with a 3-0 forfeit loss. The board also ruled that matches hosted by Murgul Belediyespor should be played in Artvin Central.
APPEAL AGAINST THE DECISION
Reacting to the decision, Murgul Belediyespor announced in a press conference that they have decided not to participate in the match against Ulubey Belediyespor this weekend. The club stated that the match should be played in Murgul and appealed the decision of the Provincial Sports Security Board.
'WE WILL NOT GO TO ARTVIN'
Club President Sedat Ali Öktem stated, "The people of Murgul are being punished. We are ready to take every step necessary regarding the safety and responsibility of our stadium. Artvin City Stadium is not physically suitable; this is an away game for us. With the joint decision made after the security meeting, we will hold a silent protest. We will not go to Artvin. We will be on the field in Murgul, and if anyone comes, we will play," he expressed.
