According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, the recycling participation fee for plastic bags has been increased from 60 kuruş to 86 kuruş. Following this decision, it was announced that the price of plastic bags will also be raised to 50 kuruş in the new year.

RECYCLING PARTICIPATION FEE HAS INCREASED



The announcement regarding the recycling participation fees to be collected under the Environmental Law by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has been published in the Official Gazette. With the decision, the recycling participation fee for plastic bags used in shopping has increased to 86 kuruş per piece with a revaluation rate of 43.93%. The participation fee amounts will be effective from January 1, 2025.



IT WAS 60 KURUŞ IN 2024



Although the recycling participation fee was set at 60 kuruş per piece starting from January 1, 2024, the amount consumers would pay was continued at 25 kuruş by the ministry.



100% INCREASE IN BAG PRICE



The price of plastic bags, which were sold for 25 kuruş, has been increased by 100%. Plastic bags will now be sold for 50 kuruş.



10.6 BILLION LIRA SAVINGS ACHIEVED



With the implementation of the charging for plastic bags since 2019, the formation of 1.5 million tons of plastic waste was prevented until July of this year. This also prevented the import of raw plastic materials necessary for plastic bag production. Additionally, approximately 10.6 billion lira savings were achieved in the national economy.
