In the Newborn Gang case, Chief Physician Fetin Rüştü Yıldız confessed that they paid money to Fırat Sarı.

In Istanbul, the trial of 47 defendants, who are accused of transferring emergency infant patients to private hospitals with which they had previously agreed, leading to their deaths and unjust profits, continues on its 7th day. The hearing, held in the conference hall of the courthouse by the Bakırköy 22nd High Criminal Court, was attended by 22 detained defendants, including organized crime leader Fırat Sarı, as well as some defendants who are not in custody and the lawyers of the parties. Many members of the press also attended the hearing as spectators.

A FIRST IN THE TRIAL

Starting from Monday, November 18, the hearing, in which the defenses of the 22 detained defendants were completed, moved on to taking statements from the defendants who are not in custody. Prof. Dr. Fetin Rüştü Yıldız, who is held responsible for the death of a baby, was brought to the defendant's stand. For the first time in this trial, a chief physician gave a statement.

CONFESSED THE MONEY THEY PAID

"I have no fault regarding the death that occurred. I would like to state that as a chief physician, I do not have the opportunity to control what everyone does one by one. It has been understood by the prosecution as if I was aware of the actions in question," said Yıldız, confessing his collaboration with Fırat Sarı, admitting that they agreed on a 20% rate and that they paid 364,000 TL.

• Prof. Dr. Fetin Rüştü Yıldız: There was no content related to salaries or personnel. The agreement was made solely for the purpose of maintaining the neonatal intensive care unit in a more quality manner.
• Presiding Judge: Who was paying the salaries?
• Prof. Dr. Fetin Rüştü Yıldız: We were paying as a hospital.
• Presiding Judge: Were you paying all of it?
• Prof. Dr. Fetin Rüştü Yıldız: Yes.
• Prosecutor Kadir Kocakaya: Were you aware that Fırat Sarı was bringing patients for money?
• Prof. Dr. Fetin Rüştü Yıldız: No, I was not aware.
• Member Judge: Did you receive compensation for this consultancy? (Referring to Fırat Sarı's company)
• Prof. Dr. Fetin Rüştü Yıldız: I think we did.
• Member Judge: On January 15, you said, "364,000 TL is his right," is that correct?
• Prof. Dr. Fetin Rüştü Yıldız: Yes.
• Member Judge: You said you made an agreement of 35% over the newborns. That's a serious amount.
• Prof. Dr. Fetin Rüştü Yıldız: I said before, effectively 20%.
• Member Judge: 20% is also a serious amount.
