In a joint operation between the Turkish National Police Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Department and Azerbaijani police, Ö.A.K., who was wanted for numerous crimes including 'intentional manslaughter' and 'robbery,' was captured in Baku. The suspect, identified as having connections with members of a new-generation criminal organization, was brought to Turkey following the conducted efforts.
As a result of the joint operation conducted by the General Directorate of Security's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Department and Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, in coordination with the Istanbul Police Department's Organized Crime Branch Directorate and the Azerbaijani police, the location of the wanted Ö.A.K. was determined in an operation that gained an international dimension.
CONNECTION TO NEW GENERATION CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION DETECTED
According to the statement from the Ministry of Interior, Ö.A.K. was identified as being linked to members of a new generation criminal organization, who were arrested for their involvement in incidents of shooting at workplaces and attempting robbery by threatening businesspeople for money. As part of the conducted efforts, the suspect was traced and found to be in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
CAPTURED IN BAKU
Ö.A.K., who had arrest warrants for "intentional manslaughter," "purchasing, accepting, possessing, and using drugs or stimulants for use," and two separate charges of "purchasing or carrying unlicensed firearms and ammunition," was captured in Baku by the Azerbaijani police. Following the procedures, the suspect was brought to Turkey.
EMPHASIS ON CROSS-BORDER FIGHT
The Ministry of Interior stated that the fight against organized crime organizations and urban mobsters would continue decisively across borders. In the ministry's statement, the KOM Department, Istanbul Police Department, and other teams involved in the operation were congratulated, and the Azerbaijani police were thanked for their cooperation.
