DEVA Party member Ertuğrul Kaya submitted a bill to the Parliament to officially recognize Gaziantep's hospitality by granting it the title "Minhar," in light of the estimated 430,000 Syrians residing in the city.

The budget marathon that started in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) continues in the General Assembly with discussions on the 2025 budgets of the Presidency and its affiliated institutions.

NEW NAME PROPOSAL FOR GAZIANTEP

DEVA Party Gaziantep Deputy Ertuğrul Kaya, speaking on behalf of his party, made a striking speech. Reminding that Gaziantep was given the title of "Gazi" (Veteran) on February 8, 1921, due to its great resistance against occupation during the War of Independence, Kaya requested that the people of Gaziantep be given the title of "Minhar" (hospitable) for their hospitality towards Syrians since 2011.

Kaya, not limiting himself to his proposal during his speech, officially submitted a proposal to the Presidency of the Assembly requesting the official acceptance of the title 'Minhar' for Gaziantep.

NEARLY 430,000 SYRIANS

It is estimated that there are nearly 430,000 Syrians in Gaziantep, one of the cities with the highest population of Syrian refugees.
